Refined Knits: book review and yarn give-away
Refined Knits: Sophisticated Lace, Cable, and Aran Lace Knitwear is a new book by Jennifer Wood, which includes our Messa di Voce as the suggested yarn for one of the sweater projects. It's a beautifully put-together book, full of knitting inspiration.
Contest is now closed. Thank you to everyone who participated, and congratulations to our winner, Mary, who will be receiving three skeins of Cardamom as her prize!
Shawl Club 2016 - Little Luxuries
Elizabeth and I have been working since last spring on putting together our very first Sweet Paprika Shawl Club, and we're super excited to finally get to share it with the rest of the world. Sign-ups are now open, and but spots are limited!
What is a Shawl Club?
A shawl club can be many things, but usually it consists of either several shawl patterns, or patterns matched with yarn, that are released exclusively to members over a given period of time. There are some great ones out there, and we were inspired to put together a club of our own that includes not only exclusive patterns and the yarn to knit them with, but some other little treats to enjoy.
Setting up the Sweet Paprika studio
As some of you know, Debbie and I had to move studios rather unexpectedly last August. Although it was very stressful at the time, Debbie managed to find us another studio within a week, and the new space is wonderful!
Victoria from Refined Knits
I am so thrilled to share some photos with you of Victoria, one of the patterns from Jennifer Wood's upcoming book Refined Knits. Not only is this design beautiful and exactly my style, it's knit in our very own Messa di Voce yarn in Chimney Smoke!
Kith & Kin designer interview: Sabrina Miller
Last (but certainly not least!) in our series of interviews with the designers from our Kith & Kin Collection is Sabrina Miller, designer of the wonderful Chili Powder Mittens.
Sabrina is a friend of ours here in Montreal and, although she does have tons of design experience from her work as a set and costume designer, I'm proud to say that this was her first-ever published knitting pattern!
Kith & Kin designer interview: Thorn Maiden Designs
Next up in our series of blog interviews is Rachel Anderson from Ireland, designer of the Blue Skies and Butterflies mittens.
Rachel originally planned to offer these mittens in two sizes, but when I asked her if she could expand the size range from child to adult, she more than rose to the challenge and sent us a pattern with 8 sizes to fit everyone from toddlers to men's extra large!
Indie Design Gift-a-Long: Hidden gems
Kith & Kin designer interview: Marie Godsey
Kith & Kin designer interview: Valeria Kerkkä
Kith & Kin designer interview: Joan Beebe
The second in our series of blog interviews is with Joan Beebe from North Carolina. Joan designed the Macon Mittens for our collection and was kind enough to knit two samples for us: one adult and one toddler size.
This design really caught my eye with combination of Latvian Braids and cables and my toddler could not wait to try them on when the samples arrived in the mail!
